"I couldn't believe it": Innovative blood test raised suspicion of cancer — and imaging revealed a lung mass

Large-scale research found that combining the “Grail” blood test with standard screening examinations could increase the number of detected cancer cases fourfold. The same happened to Peter, a retired police officer from England, who, following the test and subsequent diagnostic examinations, discovered that he is developing lung cancer. “I had no symptoms at all. "I wasn't vaccinated until age 23": The girl who grew up against science became an immunologist

The less encouraging news is the price – about 90,000 shekels per month of treatment. Prof. Ido Wolf, head of the oncology division at Ichilov, warns: "We will have patients who have no private insurance and no money, and for them there will be no drug."

A new study by the Weizmann Institute of Science, conducted in mice, organoids, and seven biopsies from colitis patients, found that a transient inflammation can leave a "memory" in the intercellular matrix, alter the fate of stem cells, and promote chronic inflammation. Dr. Moshe Biton, one of the study’s leaders: "Current treatments target only the outcome and not the root cause." The findings may point to a new direction for diagnosis, prevention, and therapy.
