In 1881, the factory in Perstorp began producing acetic acid using raw materials from the area's beech forests. The bottle was unveiled in 1994 with music and a speech by well-known television chef Jan Boris-Möller, who used the occasion to explain how vinegar can soften an eggshell enough to squeeze an egg into a bottle. Laminated panels on the bottle give a cucumber-pickling tip and list places to visit in the municipality, all in Swedish.
