Alongside Supermodels: Robots Are Conquering Fashion Runways

Until recently we were accustomed to seeing them in demo videos from labs and production lines. Now humanoid robots are starting to appear in a slightly less expected place: fashion runways. Last night (Tuesday), at the Vogue World event held at the Vittorio Emmanuel II Gallery in Milan, robots walked the runway alongside models and stars. Their presence was not accidental: this year's entire event focused on the meeting of human craftsmanship and technology, and one of its five sections was even named "The Age of Intelligence". Vogue explained that this segment was intended to showcase the connection between human creation and technology, from smart materials that react to movement and temperature to the changes ushered in by the age of artificial intelligence. So far, Vogue has not disclosed who manufactured the robots that participated in the show or which models they were. But Milan was certainly not alone.
