After more than 100 years: a new species of wild cat discovered in Bolivia

The tiny cat is called 'tilkayo' by local communities. Genetic analysis revealed that its lineage diverged from its relatives about 1.4 million years ago. The discovery also raises concerns for the species' future, which lives in an area threatened by deforestation, agriculture, fires, and mining.
